About the KPA Writing Residency

📍 Format: Hybrid (Virtual + In-person)

• 6 weeks of mentorship, masterclasses, and writing development
• Guidance from experienced African authors and editors
• Public voting and expert feedback on your work
• A chance to be featured in The Ancestor's Ink anthology
• The winner receives a publishing deal with KPA

Who Can Apply?

Writers of African descent (Africa & the Diaspora, 18 years and above)
Emerging or aspiring writers passionate about storytelling.

Entry Fee: GHS 300 / USD 20

Our First Anthology: The Ancestor's Ink

Theme: "The Ancestor's Ink: Writing the African Legacy"

This anthology will explore African heritage, memory, and identity through short fiction, poetry, and personal essays. The top submissions from the residency will be published alongside select works from guest writers.

Genres Accepted:

• Flash Fiction (max 1,000 words)
• Poetry (up to 3 poems)
• Personal Essays (max 1,500 words)

Who Can Apply?

Writers of African descent (Africa & the Diaspora, 16 years and above)
Emerging or aspiring writers passionate about storytelling, should not have any published works
