Things We Don't Say

Each month, Krodua releases a curated writing prompt designed to develop storytelling, imagination, and literary skill. Writers are invited to respond in fiction, poetry, drama, or creative prose.

THE THINGS WE DON'T SAY
Some things are never spoken.
They live in the pauses between conversations, in letters never sent, apologies swallowed, questions avoided, names we stopped saying, and truths we were taught to keep to ourselves.
What happens to the things we don't say?
Write a piece inspired by “The Things We Don’t Say.”
Your piece may explore silence, secrets, regret, love, grief, family, identity, memory, shame, forgiveness, or an unspoken truth. You may interpret the theme literally or metaphorically.
Tell us what silence has been carrying.
Genre: Poetry, short fiction, memoir, creative nonfiction, or spoken word
Maximum: 1,500 words for prose / 60 lines for poetry
Eligibility: Open to writers everywhere
Submission: Original, unpublished work
Deadline: 30 September 2026
